The No. 40 Marquis Hot Tubs / Make-A-Wish Silverado for Ryan Truex, and NIECE Motorsports (Renders – TMG)

An absolute gut-punch for Ryan Truex, and his No. 40 NIECE Motorsports Silverado as the New Jersey driver’s day ended early thanks to a mechanical failure during Saturday’s race.

Truex came over the radio with about 35 laps left in Stage 1 of the Toyota Care 250, claiming that there was a rear gear issue, and declared the day was over while heading onto pit road.

The team went behind the wall to look into the issue further, ultimately exiting the race early.

It was supposed to be a special day for Truex and sponsor Marquis Hot Tubs, who are celebrating 900 wishes granted in partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

On the brighter side, his race-worn gloves will be auctioned off to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

As for the race, Thorsport’s Grant Enfinger would go on to win Stage 1 of the Toyota Care 250 at Richmond.
