NASCAR Will Not Let Sauter, Enfinger Back into Truck Playoffs After Illmor Engine Failures

In the fallout of the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series Round of 8 Elimination Playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway a couple of weeks ago, it was discovered that ThorSport Racing teammates Johnny Sauter and Grant Enfinger were the victims of NASCAR Spec Motors (made by Illmor Engineering) gone bad.

ThorSport’s Matt Crafton also had a motor that blew up in Vegas, but luckily he had accrued enough points over the first two races of the Playoff Round to advance.

Enfinger had won the regular-season points championship, and Sauter is a previous Series champion.

After the Illmor claimed responsibility this past week for the failures, ThorSport sent a letter to NASCAR in an effort to get their two eliminated drivers placed back into championship contention.

Monday, that request was officially denied.

The Truck Series Playoffs Round of 6 begins next weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, and the drivers who will be vying for the title are: Brett Moffitt, Austin Hill, Ross Chastain, Stewart Friesen, Matt Crafton and Tyler Ankrum.
