Well, Mother Nature is certainly no NASCAR fan.
Dating back to two weeks ago at Bristol Motor Speedway, the last four NASCAR National Series events have all been delayed by at least one day. The NASCAR Cup Series Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway is the latest.
The race was delayed by weather, but NASCAR was able to get 42 races of the 500-lap contest completed on Saturday night before persistent rains returned. NASCAR had no choice but to move the conclusion of the race to 4PM ET on Sunday, coverage will be on FS1.
Denny Hamlin was the leader of the race when the red flag was displayed, and he’ll lead the field back to green. Joey Logano will restart in second, Ryan Blaney is third, Martin Truex Jr. and Chase Elliott are fourth and fifth.
William Byron, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Larson rounded out the top-10 at the time of the race being halted.
The NASCAR Xfinity Series Cook Out 250 is still scheduled for Noon ET on Sunday as well, after the race was halted after 91 laps on Friday night. That race will also be broadcast on FS1.
