NIECE Motorsports will take throwback to a whole new level this weekend, with the organization bringing in a former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series veteran to Darlington.

According to the latest entry list by NASCAR, Erik Darnell will make his return to the series piloting the No. 45 NIECE Motorsports Silverado.

TobyChristie.com has also confirmed with a source involved in the situation that Darnell will race.

Darnell will carry original sponsor Northern Tool + Equipment with him, the same sponsor during his days with Roush Fenway.

The Beach Park, Illinois driver spent four seasons in the Truck Series from 2004 to 2008, bringing home the checkered flag twice and finishing a career best fourth in points in 2008. He spent all but one of his 76 Truck Series starts with Jack Roush. He later moved to the Xfinity Series for a season with Roush, before moving over to The Motorsports Group with Curtis Key. His last appearance in a NASCAR touring series race was Homestead in 2012 in Xfinity, where he finished 35th.

NIECE Motorsports is coming off of a strong race at Kansas, with Ross Chastain in the No. 44 finishing second to Kyle Busch, and Bayley Currey making a lone start in the truck finishing 12th.

A prior request for comment from NIECE Motorsports has gone unanswered at the time of this publishing.

Fans can see Darnell return to the track on Friday, May 9th at 7:30PM EST on FOX Sports 1.
