After putting together some fantastic results while competing part-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series the last two years, Austin Green is finally getting the chance to take his talents full-time.

On Friday, Peterson Racing confirmed it would be fielding a full-time NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series entry, the No. 87 Chevrolet, for the upcoming season, with Green behind the wheel in all 33 events.

While the organization itself has technically been present in NASCAR’s second-tier division for the last two seasons with Green, it hasn’t been as its own independent venture, but instead as part of a relationship with Jordan Anderson Racing.

To assist in tackling the overall newness of being its own independent organization in a series as competitive as the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Peterson Racing has forged a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing (RCR).

In an announcement posted to Instagram on Friday, Peterson Racing says, “Peterson Racing is proud to announce a new technical partnership with Richard Childress Racing (RCR) for the 2026 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. This partnership will strengthen our program alongside our established relationship with ECR Engines and the continued support of our primary sponsor, 3Dimensional Services.”

Green himself is from a tight-knit racing family that has an illustrious pedigree of success in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. Austin’s father, David, is the 1994 series champion and a nine-time winner, while his uncle, Jeff, is the 2000 series champion and a 16-time winner.

“Thrilled to be back with Peterson Racing in 2026, racing the No. 87 Chevrolet full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series,” said Green in a social media statement. “We’re proud to add a new technical partnership with Richard Childress Racing, building on our strong relationship with ECR Engines.”

In his 21 starts in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, Green has managed to secure a pair of top-five results (a fourth at Sonoma in June 2024 and a runner-up result at the Charlotte ROVAL in October 2025) and eight top-10 finishes.

While the vast majority of his starts (and success) have come on the road courses in NASCAR’s second-tier division, Green has a best finish of 24th-place on the ovals at Martinsville Speedway this Fall. However, Green is a race-winner in the ARCA Menards Series at Charlotte Motor Speedway, driving for Pinnacle Racing Group.
