Dale Earnhardt Jr. – the NASCAR Cup Series’ Most Popular Driver from 2003 to 2017 — will compete in his annual one-off event in the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Martinsville Speedway on April 8, piloting the No. 88 Hellmann’s Chevrolet Camaro.

As part of a promotion put on by Hellmann’s and JR Motorsports, fans had the opportunity to vote on the paint scheme that they wanted the NASCAR Xfinity Series team owner to compete in, with the winner being announced Tuesday Morning on Instagram Live.

However, during the broadcast, Earnhardt Jr said that the number for the paint scheme (No. 88) wasn’t always a given and that the team thought about running a different number on the scheme, and had even drawn up a render of the car with the No. 03 on it.

Shortly thereafter, Earnhardt posted the inspiration behind the number, as well as the render of the Hellmann’s No. 03 to Twitter, to show the fans what it would have looked like.

Now fans can take the render of the No. 03 Hellmann’s Chevrolet Camaro and place it in the ‘Paint Schemes That Never Ran’ folder. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see this happen? But, for now, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it, right?
