Hendrick Motorsports has inked a four-year contract extension with 14-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner William Byron. The extension will see the Charlotte, North Carolina-native remain the driver of the No. 24 Chevrolet through the 2029 NASCAR season.

The 27-year-old driver is a two-time DAYTONA 500 winner (2024, 2025) and has made six consecutive appearances in the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs between 2019 and 2024.

“We’ve built something special with the No. 24 team,” said Byron, who is in his eighth full-time season in the Cup Series. “I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue working with amazing people at Hendrick Motorsports who believe in me, especially Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick. We’ve accomplished some great things that we’re really proud of, but we have even bigger goals ahead. I’m excited to go after them with this team and this organization.”

Byron first signed a contract with Hendrick Motorsports in 2016 and joined the ranks of the NASCAR Cup Series two seasons later, where he earned Rookie of the Year (ROTY) honors in 2018.

The driver earned his first win at NASCAR’s top-level during the 2020 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, and has captured at least one victory in every season since.

“William is the real deal,” said Rick Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “What makes him so special is that he combines natural ability with an unrivaled work ethic. You see it in the great ones – the drivers who could get by on talent alone but choose to outwork everyone anyway. That’s William. On top of it all, he’s a person of high character and embraces his role as a leader. We’re proud to have him in our lineup and look forward to many more wins together.”

Since the introduction of the seventh-generation racecar in 2022, Byron has become one of NASCAR’s most successful drivers, capturing a total of 12 victories, which ranks second behind only teammate Kyle Larson.

After back-to-back appearances in the Championship 4 in 2023 and 2024, Byron is now searching for his first NASCAR Cup Series title, a feat he hopes to track down by season’s end at Phoenix Raceway.

This weekend, Byron will be running double-duty, competing in both the NASCAR Xfinity Series event on Saturday (4:30 PM ET on The CW) and the NASCAR Cup Series event on Sunday (6:00 PM ET on Prime Video).
