Video: Ross Chastain Initiates Contact on Allmendinger, Bowman to Score First-Career Cup Win in Frantic Finish

Ross Chastain prevailed in a contact-filled final lap dash for the checkered flag with AJ Allmendinger and Alex Bowman at COTA. Screengrab from FOX broadcast.

What. A. Finish.

In what was an epic duel between Ross Chastain, AJ Allmendinger and Alex Bowman in an overtime finish of Sunday’s EchoPark Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, it was Chastain that prevailed for his first-career NASCAR Cup Series win.

On the final lap, Chastain initiated contact with Allmendinger, which sent Allmendinger into Bowman. This wiped out Allmendinger and hampered Bowman’s run at the end as Chastain cruised to the victory.

Here is the chaos-filled battle for the win:

As Chastain scored the win, Bowman held on to finish second, while Allmendinger ended a disappointing 33rd.
