Video: Denny Hamlin Spins Battling for Lead on Lap 215

Denny Hamlin was battling Tyler Reddick for the race lead in the final Stage of Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway, but after his car slid up into Reddick in Turn 2 on Lap 215, Hamlin went for a spin.

As Hamlin was turned driver’s side door facing the field, he fortunately was not tagged by anybody else, including Brad Keselowski, who had the closest call in the spin.

Hamlin, who started from the pole, and collected 16 Stage Points earlier in the race, will now have to battle from outside the top-20 if he hopes to have a solid finish in this event. With how hard it has been for some to work through the dirty air in traffic, it could be a tall task for Hamlin to recover.
