Video: Daniel Suarez’s Hopes of a Daytona 500 Start Dashed With a Crash in First Duel

Daniel Suarez was in position to transfer into the Daytona 500 in the BlueGreen Vacations Duel No. 1. But with just over 30 laps remaining, the Ford teams opted to pit, right in front of the No. 96 car.

Suarez attempted to knife his car high to miss them, but Ryan Blaney was on his way to pit road as well, in the middle lane of the track.

Suarez and Blaney made contact, which sent Suarez hard into the wall. Suarez is done for the night and he will not transfer into the Daytona 500.

An absolutely bummed Suarez spoke to Regan Smith after climbing from his crashed car.
