In what has been a roller coaster season for Ty Majeski, the driver of the No. 88 ThorSport Racing Ford F-150, found another high peak on Saturday morning at Michigan International Speedway.
In qualifying for the DQS Solutions & Staffing 250, Majeski rocketed around the 2-mile oval in 39.257 seconds, which equated to a 183.407 mph average lap speed. The lap was enough for Majeski to defeat Christopher Bell, a NASCAR Cup Series regular, for the pole position for Saturday afternoon’s race by a margin of 0.075 seconds.
Starting Lineup: NCTS DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 at Michigan
This pole position is Majeski’s second of the 2026 season, as he also scored the pole in the season-opening event at Daytona International Speedway, and this amounts to the driver’s 13th career pole in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
Now, Majeski will look to reverse a trend where he has alternated back and forth between finishes of 12th-or-better and 23rd-or-worse in every race this season. If the trend holds up, Majeski is looking at a finish of 23rd-or-worse on Saturday afternoon, as he finished 12th last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.
If he breaks the see-sawing finishing results spell, maybe he’ll do so with a victory?
Speaking of victory, while Bell hasn’t won in the NASCAR Cup Series this season, yet, the Oklahoma native has already scraped out a win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this season, driving the No. 62 Toyota for Halmar Friesen Racing.
Bell won at Bristol Motor Speedway driving for the team, and he hasn’t finished worse than sixth in his three starts in the NASCAR Truck Series this season. He’ll look to keep that momentum rolling on Saturday afternoon.
Behind the front row of Majeski and Bell will be Chandler Smith and Layne Riggs, a pair of Front Row Motorsports teammates who will operate from the second row of the starting grid at Michigan.
Riggs comes into this weekend’s race on a two-race winning streak, as he won at Charlotte Motor Speedway two weeks ago, as well as last weekend at Nashville Superspeedway.
Connor Mosack, Cole Butcher, Gio Ruggiero, Jake Garcia, and Spencer Davis rounded out the top-10 qualifiers for Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Michigan.
Cleetus McFarland, who scored his first career ARCA Menards Series pole on Friday at Michigan International Speedway, will start from the 29th position in his second career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start.
McFarland finished dead-last (37th) in his first career start at Daytona International Speedway in February.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series DQS Solutions & Staffing 250 at Michigan International Speedway is set to begin at 1:30 PM ET, and will be televised on FS1.
