Stewart-Haas Racing sent out chilling news Friday evening in the form of a statement. Two employees of the Stewart-Haas Racing team have contracted COVID-19. The statement, which does not name the employees, does state that the employees are not a part of the road crew that travels to the race.

Here is the full statement from SHR:

“Stewart-Haas Racing has experienced two positive COVID-19 test results, neither of which involve personnel who travel to race events. Robust protocols have been in place and continue to be followed diligently to mitigate the spread of the virus while maintaining the health and safety of all members of the organization and greater community.”

Since returning from a shutdown due to the Coronavirus, NASCAR has fortunately had very little in the way of news with the virus, despite running a feverish schedule making up for lost time.

However, this week, NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Jarrett revealed that he has contracted COVID-19 and is in quarantine at home. Jarrett stated during the NASCAR Hall of Fame Selection event, that he has had mild symptoms so far.

Hopefully the spread of COVID-19 doesn’t grow into the at-track garage area, but with numbers of the virus spiking back up in certain portions of the United States, it will be a tough task to not have the virus impact the season at some point — more than it already has.
