It took Ryan Blaney, the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, 17 races into his title defense to score his first victory of the season. Four races later, the 30-year-old is back in victory lane again following The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway. The driver, who has been on a tear of consistency as of late, took the lead on the final pit stop of the day with 44 laps remaining, and he never looked back.

After Blaney defeated Denny Hamlin by 1.312 seconds to score the win, his race-winning No. 12 Wabash Team Penske Ford Mustang Dark Horse was taken to post-race inspection, where NASCAR went over the machine with a fine-toothed comb. The car was given a passing grade in inspection, which allowed NASCAR to officially declare Blaney and his team the official winners of Sunday’s race at Pocono.

The win marks the 12th win of Blaney’s 327-race NASCAR Cup Series career, and it is his fifth win in his last two seasons. The driver is firmly in the driver’s seat when it comes to the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs, which begin in five races.

No issues were detected in post-race inspection, which means all results and standings following Sunday’s race are now considered official.

NASCAR will take Christopher Bell’s No. 20 Toyota Camry, Joey Logano’s No. 22 Team Penske Ford Mustang, and Alex Bowman’s No. 48 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro back to the R&D center for further inspection.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin recorded the runner-up finish, which is the 11th top-three finish of his career at the 2.5-mile Tricky Triangle. Hendrick Motorsports teammates Alex Bowman, William Byron, and Blaney’s Team Penske teammate Joey Logano rounded out the top-five finishers in the race.
