NASCAR was in a pickle. Their championship-deciding race for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway and both practice sessions for the event were rained out on Saturday.

With a full day of on-track activity scheduled with Xfinity Series Qualifying and race and Cup a Series Qualifying, there wasn’t enough time to squeeze in time for a Cup Series practice.

As such, NASCAR has scrapped Cup Series qualifying and will instead have a 50-minute practice session for teams to tune their cars for Sunday’s championship event.
