James Davison who has run several one-off events in the NTT IndyCar Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series over the last several seasons will be taking a huge step in 2020. The 33-year old driver will attempt to run two of the biggest races in the world, the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500.

According to a report from Speed Sport’s Jacob Seelman, The venture will come from a partnership of Jeff Byrd’s Racing and Hayward Motorsports and will be sponsored by Oil Fire Whiskey. The report also states that Davison’s team alignments will be officially announced at a later date.

Davison has never started a NASCAR sanctioned race on an oval. However, Davison has made four road course starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. In those four starts, Davison has two top-10 finishes, including a career-best fourth place finish at Mid-Ohio in 2017.

For what it’s worth, Davison’s last three starts in Xfinity Series competition came while driving for Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota.
