Austin Cindric Returning to No. 33 Team Penske Car For Cup Race at Atlanta

Fresh off his second NASCAR Xfinity Series victory of the 2021 season, Austin Cindric will head into his second-career NASCAR Cup Series start as he will pilot the Team Penske No. 33 machine in this weekend’s Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Team Penske revealed the news in a video on TikTok and Twitter on Monday.

According to the firesuit that Cindric is wearing in the video, which is equipped with the NASCAR Cup Series logo patch, sponsorship for the effort will come from long-time Team Penske partner Pirtek. Team Penske also tagged Pirtek in the tweet.

Cindric had sponsorship from Verizon 5G in his first career NCS start in the 2021 Daytona 500. In that race, Cindric impressed many by running up front all race long before finishing 15th after being involved in a last lap crash.

The 22-year old defending NASCAR Xfinity Series champion has become one of the most consistent NXS drivers in recent memory. Over his last 26 starts in the series, Cindric has just three finishes outside the top-10 and he has eight wins in that span. Many expected him to move to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2021, but he will take over the Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Ford Mustang for the 2022 season.
