After a two week hiatus, the NTT IndyCar Series is back for a trip to another classic track, drivers and teams head to the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

The full three-day show will feature a 75 minute session, same as the last race at Road America. Typically, there are 45 minutes of on-track time; however, the series is trying to give more teams more preparation for Sunday’s race.

It’s the ninth round of the 2022 season and back to his winning ways was Josef Newgarden, a third win of the season was accomplished in Elkhart Lake. Marcus Ericsson reassumed the championship lead after losing it to Will Power for a single week, who is now slotted in second, Newgarden third.

The last five trips to the 2.4-mile permanent road course have seen different victors of those four seasons (2020 doubleheader) including three teams that made it to victory lane. Alexander Rossi, Scott Dixon, Power, Colton Herta are on that list with Newgarden, last year’s winner had a commanding drive with 73 out of the 80 laps led.

Two Frenchmen who had parallel points finishes from Road America were Simon Pagenaud and Romain Grosjean. The No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Honda of Pagenaud placed 12th in the race and lost two positions in the standings to 10th, opposed to the No. 28 Andretti Autosport Honda of Grosjean, a first top five since Long Beach bumped him up two spots to 12th.

Indy Lights competed at Mid-Ohio for a total of four events last year and its a place for series champions. In 2019, eventual series champion, Oliver Askew scored the doubleheader sweep and a year ago, Kyle Kirkwood captured the checkered flag three times.

Linus Lundqvist, stopped Kirkwood from grabbing all four trophies and he now hunts down his first career championship. The 23-year-old Swede has an 82-point gap over Sting Ray Robb who moved up into second after Benjamin Pederson’s 11th place finish.

Danial Frost and Matthew Brabham entered Road America fourth and fifth and they stay in those positions entering this weekend.
