Thad Moffitt Officially Announced as Faction46 NASCAR Truck Driver

While the truck number and team colors led to quite a bit of speculation, Faction46 made it official as Thad Moffitt was announced as the full-time NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver for the organization in 2024.

Moffitt, the grandson of seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Richard Petty, announced his plans on Saturday morning at an event at Petty’s Garage in Level Cross, North Carolina.

“This is the opportunity that I’ve been waiting for,” said Moffitt. “I’m thrilled that Lane has put his trust in me to begin this new venture with him in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series with Faction46. This past year I had a full season the Trans Am Series, but always wanted to have the opportunity to race full-time in NASCAR and begin in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. I’m pretty pumped up about this opportunity.”

Sponsorship partners for Moffitt and Faction46 will include Customers Bank, Clean Harbors, Safety-Kleen, Pristine Auction, Joe Jurgielewicz and Son – America’s Tastiest Duck, Induction Innovations, Best Working Wipes, and Petty’s Garage.

Doug George will serve as the crew chief for Moffitt and the No. 46 team. George is a two-time race-winning crew chief in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series competition over a career that has spanned 305 starts.

George, 63, most recently served as a crew chief for Colby Howard at CR7 Motorsports in 2023.

In addition to Moffitt serving as the driver, Faction46 announced on Saturday that they will field Niece Motorsports prepared Chevrolet Silverados with assistance from Petty’s Garage.

Team owner Lane Moore says he has enjoyed his time with the Petty family and is excited for his foray into NASCAR as a team owner.

“I’ve enjoyed working and getting to know the Petty family and Thad,” said Moore. “It all accumulated to this day and the beginning of Faction46 and what I hope to be a long stay in NASCAR. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series offers some of the best, most exciting racing for both young and seasoned drivers. I’m proud to be part of the series with Thad as we earn the respect of the other teams. I have to thank Niece Motorsports for their assistance in helping us as we grow.”

Faction46 announced its intention to go NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series racing in an interview with Eric Estepp on Out of the Groove on Thursday. Team co-owner Lane Moore promised an announcement that their driver would be coming later in the week.

According to Faction46’s website, the team is owned by Lane and Logan Moore of Grove, Oklahoma.

The Moore family owns the Venture Food Stores company. Moore is currently building a retail program with his Venture Food Stores, which will help brands and products reach over 800 stores in key NASCAR race markets, per a team press release.
