Daniel Dye Not Medically Cleared to Compete in Xfinity Race at Phoenix

Daniel Dye was involved in a multi-truck crash involving Bayley Currey, and Stefan Parsons late in Friday night’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship Race at Phoenix Raceway. As a result of that crash, Dye will not compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race.

According to a post from Alpha Prime Racing, Dye suffered an undisclosed injury in the crash on Friday night, and has not been medically cleared to return to the track. As a result, Leland Honeyman will fill in for Dye, who was scheduled to pilot the No. 44 Chevrolet Camaro for the team.

Following the announcement from Alpha Prime Racing, Honeyman posted on X about the situation.

“I’m praying for Daniel’s quick recovery and I’m all set to help,” Honeyman’s post said. “Thanks to @TommyJoeMartins & @TeamAlphaPrime for giving me the chance.”

Dye, 19, competed in the full NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series campaign this season with GMS Racing in the No. 43 Chevrolet Silverado, and he made his NASCAR Xfinity Seris debut for Alpha Prime Racing with a 17th-place effort at Texas Motor Speedway.

The young racer finished 19th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Alpha Prime Racing, and he was set to make his third Xfinity Series start on Saturday at Phoenix.

Honeyman is a capable relief driver, as he has performed well with Alpha Prime Racing.

The 18-year-old has eight career NASCAR Xfinity Series starts with a best finish of 21st, which came at the Charlotte ROVAL last month.
