Garrett Smithley Moves to DGM Racing, Piloting No. 91 in Multiple Xfinity Races

Garrett Smithley, who was scheduled to compete full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this season for BJ McLeod Motorsports, has moved to DGM Racing for Saturday’s event at Phoenix Raceway, as well as several other races.

Smithley, 30, posted a statement to Twitter on Tuesday, outlining his move to DGM Racing, effective immediately.

“This weekend at Phoenix Raceway I will drive the No. 91 DozenWinchParts.com Chevrolet for DGM Racing, with plans to run additional races with the team this season,” the statement reads. “Mario and Michelle Gosselin, thank you for picking me up when I was down, the opportunity to drive your race cars is an honor.”

“I remain steadfast in my extreme desire to compete at the highest levels of motorsports. I know that I have many years of racing ahead of me and look forward to the next challenge and the next opportunity.”

In the opening three races of the year, Smithley and BJ McLeod Motorsports failed to qualify at Daytona International Speedway and Auto Club Speedway. Last weekend at Las Vegas, the team made its first race of the year, finishing 36th.

TobyChristie.com has reached out to BJ McLeod Motorsports surrounding the status of the No. 99 entry moving forward but has yet to receive a response.
