David Starr was scheduled to pilot the No. 08 SS Green Light Racing w/ Jeff Lefcourt Ford Mustang this weekend in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Tennessee Lottery 250 at Nashville Superspeedway, but Starr, who is feeling under the weather, will step aside.

On Thursday, Starr Tweeted that BJ McLeod will fill in for him in the race. Starr explained that he hasn’t been feeling 100% this week and that he thought he originally had a simple cold until his symptoms began to worsen.

Upon a fever setting in, Starr decided to get tested for COVID-19. Fortunately, Starr did not have COVID-19, but he did test positive for the flu.

Here is Starr’s tweet with the full statement in a photo note:

Starr, 54, has competed in seven NASCAR Xfinity Series races this season, and he’s attempted to qualify for a total of 11 events in the series this year. Starr has a best finish of 21st, which came at Texas Motor Speedway in his last start.

McLeod is a driver and co-owner of the Live Fast Motorsports team in the NASCAR Cup Series as well as the owner of BJ McLeod Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The 38-year old McLeod has competed in 161 NASCAR Xfinity Series races over the course of his career and his career-best finish in NXS competition is 11th, which he has achieved twice.

While the sport wishes Starr a quick and safe recovery from the flu, his No. 08 TicketSmarter Ford Mustang will be in good hands this weekend at Nashville.
