McLaren Racing have unveiled plans for a new NTT IndyCar Series race shop for its Arrow McLaren SP outfit.

The seven-time race winners are going to break ground in the second half of this year in Whitestone, Indiana. It will be operational “in phases” between early 2023 to 2024.

“I am delighted to be able to confirm this news today,” said Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing. “Part of our long-term strategy for Arrow McLaren SP is to relocate the team to a new facility fit for the future.

“This is both a clear sign of our commitment to IndyCar and also to the community of Whitestown, the City of Indianapolis, and the state of Indiana, which has been the home of IndyCar since the sport began.”

McLaren linked with the squad formerly known as Schmidt Peterson Motorsports back in 2020, and have scored three wins since the merger. Previously announced, the Chevrolet-powered team will elevate to three teams for next season and the future shop is meant for their growth in the series.

The facility will double the size of the current one, at 97,000 square feet. With the extra space, the organization will be able to add more high-quality jobs, in a span of categories.

It will combine a contemporary office space with space for technical and workshop space, logistics and transport and a specific spot for the pit-crews to practice pit-stops. A gym will be included with a purpose of sports science for all employees.

“This new facility will be a catalyst for motorsport and business growth for McLaren Racing in North America,” said Taylor Kiel, President of AMSP. We are working hand-in-hand with Whitestown officials throughout the entire process, making sure we create an environment for hard work and excellence.

“We look forward to having a new, class-leading home for our team with access to the state-of-the-art resources they need to compete for wins and championships Investment like this just shows the excitement and growth around IndyCar locally and nationally.”
