Video: Contact Between Ty Dillon and Cole Custer Sends Austin Cindric Spinning at Richmond

Daytona 500 winner, Austin Cindric, was doing a fantastic job rebounding from starting at the rear of the field, due to a brake change pre-race, having made his way back up into the top-20.

While running in 18th, Cindric was turned around exiting turn two at Richmond Raceway, sitting driver’s side in front of a pack of oncoming traffic. Luckily, nobody made contact with the stationary vehicle.

The accident – the second straight caused by a driver from Petty GMS Motorsports — was a result of initial contact between Cole Custer and Ty Dillon, sending the Stewart-Haas Racing Ford Mustang up the track and into the No. 2.

 

All three drivers were able to continue, but the consequences of the accident would keep Ty Dillon off of the lead lap, despite being in the free pass position.
