UPDATE: According to Willy Auchmoody, General Manager of The Money Team Racing, the No. 50 team would like to run about 15 NASCAR Cup Series events in 2022. Auchmoody says that the sponsorship agreement with Pit Viper Shades is a five-race deal, but didn’t specify additional scheduled races.

The Money Team Racing – the long-aspiring NASCAR Cup Series organization affiliated with former boxer Floyd Mayweather — will finally attempt to make their NASCAR Cup Series debut in the 2022 Daytona 500.

“I love fast cars and I love to compete. I know NASCAR will not be easy, but anything easy isn’t worth doing to me,” Mayweather exclaimed. “With that being said, this move into auto racing seems to be a perfect fit for the Mayweather brand.”

Kaz Grala – who made his first start in the Daytona 500 with Kaulig Racing last season — will be the pilot of the No. 50 Chevrolet Camaro, attempting to be one of the four open entries to earn a spot in the 64th iteration of ‘The Great American Race’.

“It’s an honor to be behind the wheel for Floyd Mayweather’s entrance into NASCAR. It’s a really exciting time in our sport as it globalized and reached new audiences,” said Grala. “I know Floyd is here to win, and I absolutely feel that everyone involved in this program is capable of making that happen. We know we will need some time to grow together as a new organization, but I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of building this team from the ground up.”

Tony Eury Jr. will be calling the shots for Grala’s No. 50 Chevrolet Camaro, while Pit Viper Sunglasses will serve as the primary sponsor. According to FOX’s Bob Pockrass, the team is planning a partial schedule in 2022, that could include more than the season-opener.

Willy Auchmoody, co-owner of The Money Team Racing is an associate of Mayweather’s and has been a longtime member of the NASCAR community, serving as the team’s general manager.

“This deal has been a long time coming and we are finally at the starting line.” said William Auchmoody. “Every time we thought we would be able to hit the track, something happened, including a global pandemic. One thing I have learned from Floyd Mayweather is that sometimes your best offense is a great defense and now we are here going to our first race at this year’s Daytona 500. We are very excited to be racing!”

StarCom Racing’s Michael & Matt Kohler and Bill Woehlemann will also have a vested interest in this organization.

“We are extremely thankful to TMTR for the opportunity to be a part of this team and are excited to join them on this journey,” said Bill Woehlemann.

In four NASCAR Cup Series starts, the 23-year-old has recorded a pair of top-10 results, including a career-best sixth-place finish at Talladega Superspeedway last Spring with Kaulig Racing. Grala is also a NASCAR Truck Series winner at Daytona, winning the 2017 season-opener with GMS Racing at the age of 18.

Grala’s part-time NASCAR Cup Series program with TMT is an addition to a four-race schedule with Alpha Prime Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

  1. Mayweather once said something that still sticks with me; “Step your game up.” That car is amazing and maybe the team will do well!
