Video: Playoff Contender Justin Allgaier Suffers Brake Issues, Pounds Wall in Turn 2 at Roval

Justin Allgaier pounds wall in turn 2 after brake issues at Roval. Screengrab from NBC race broadcast.

It’s been a less than ideal start to Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Drive for the Cure 250 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval for championship contender Justin Allgaier.

Allgaier, who showcased really good speed in the opening laps of the race, seemed to suffer brake issues in the opening laps as he wheel hopped really bad on lap 5.

However, the issues didn’t get any better for Allgaier. On lap 8, he pounded the outside wall in turn 2.

Here is video of Allgaier pounding the wall from NBC:

Allgaier entered the day second in the championship standings, with a 55 point lead over Jeb Burton, who was the first driver outside the cutline.

Luckily, for Allgaier, his team was able to make repairs and he returned to the track without losing a lap. If the driver of the No. 7 is fortunate, he can survive attrition and snag a decent finish. That’s if the brake issues alleviate themselves, of course.
