Everything You Need to Know About Saturday’s Cup Series Race at Bristol
The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Round of 16 concludes with Saturday’s Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. At the conclusion of Saturday’s race, four drivers will have their championship hopes come to an end.
The four drivers that sit below the cut line and are in danger heading into the race are: William Byron (3 points back of cut line), Cole Custer (8 points back), Matt DiBenedetto (25 points back) and Ryan Blaney (27 points back).
DiBenedetto is the interesting driver who has a chance to break some Playoff hearts on Saturday as he was dangerously close to winning this race a season ago while driving for Leavine Family Racing. If DiBenedetto, who considers Bristol his favorite track, has a car capable of contending, he could really shake the Playoffs up.
While those four are needing to pick up the pace in order to make it into the Round of 12, only three drivers have fully secured their place in the Round of 12 heading into Saturday’s race. Those drivers are: Kevin Harvick (by way of Darlington win), Brad Keselowski (by way of Richmond win) and Denny Hamlin (by way of points).
As has been the case all Playoffs, the 16 Playoff drivers will roll from the top-16 spots in the starting grid. Team Penske teammates Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano will make up the front row on Saturday.
