Video: Austin Dillon Locks up Tires During Qualifying Run, Drives Backwards and Restarts

That was an eventful qualifying run for Austin Dillon.

The driver of Richard Childress Racing’s No. 3 car, was coming to the green flag for his qualifying run when he locked up the brakes severely. Dillon decided to come to a stop, turn around and drive back to restart his qualifying run.

Dillon would get a qualifying run in, but it was a sub-par lap after flat-spotting his tire on the warm up lap.

Officially, Dillon clocked the 30th-fastest lap in the session, but he will have to drop to the rear of the field as he will change tires after qualifying. Dillon will be credited with starting 30th and his team will get to make their official pit stall selection.
