Rain just would not leave the Daytona International Speedway alone on Sunday for the 62nd-annual Daytona 500.

President Donald Trump gave the command to start the engines and then paced the field in the Presidential Limousine. It looked like the race was about to get started, when a pop-up shower came out of nowhere.

After the race was initially delayed before the start by rain, the race got started and 20 laps were completed before rain stopped the race again.

Persistent rain throughout the day forced NASCAR’s hand and the sanctioning body has rescheduled the conclusion of the race.

The Daytona 500 will conclude on Monday at 4PM ET on FOX.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. led the opening 20 laps of the race from the pole and he will lead the field to green on Monday.

Joey Logano will restart second.
