Video: Jimmie Johnson Slides and Spins Through Grass, Hits Wall in Final Practice

UPDATE: The No. 48 team has concluded after going through the scanning station, that the damage to their car is repairable and they will not go to a backup car.

The Roval has been treacherous this week, as was the case a season ago. Jimmie Johnson is the latest driver to find bad luck as he slipped into the grass and spun in final practice. Johnson slammed the rear of his car into the fence.

Johnson’s team is getting his car checked in NASCAR’s laser scanning station to see how far out of tolerance the body is after the crash. If it’s too far out, they will head to a backup car.
