The Roval was exciting last season because the make-shift road course in the Charlotte Motor Speedway poses interesting challenges to the drivers that no other track on the circuit has.
The track hasn’t gotten much more forgiving in year two, as Denny Hamlin and Parker Kligerman had incidents in the opening Cup Series practice that will send them to backup cars.
Kligerman carried too much speed into the first turn and pounded the outside wall.

A little later in the session, Hamlin wheel-hopped heading into turn five and spun it around and slammed into the wall as well.
