Landon Huffman Returning to Roots in 2022, Pursuing Hickory Track Championship

Landon Huffman will attempt to become the Hickory Motor Speedway track champion in 2022, as he’ll drive the No. 75 Late Model Stock.

Landon Huffman, who has been documenting the restoration of his father’s historic race shop on YouTube, will return to his racing roots for the 2022 season as he attempts to chase the Hickory Motor Speedway late model stock track championship.

Huffman, who has five-career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts to his name and is co-owner of Windshield Deep, a content hub centered around grassroots racing, last attempted a full-time run at Hickory back in 2015.

Huffman’s opportunity to join his father Robert Huffman as a Hickory Track Champion comes in a partnership with Jason Smith and Jason Smith Racing.

“I am thrilled to put together this deal with Jason and our partners so that we can come back to Hickory and race for a track title,” Huffman said. “I’ve wanted nothing more than to have my name on the wall beside Dad’s and 2022 will present the opportunity to do just that. In 2015, I came up just short and it hasn’t set right since. I am more motivated, more determined than I’ve ever been and I want to go win races.”

Huffman has shared a video series to his YouTube channel of him getting the new body installed on his late model stock:

The partnership with Smith is a continuation of a friendship and racing partnership. Huffman has driven off and on for Smith since the 2017 season at Hickory in limited late models and late model stocks.

Sponsorship for the 2022 effort will come from Longworth Bail Bonds, of Conover, NC, who have supported Huffman’s local racing efforts since 2013.

Additionally, Catawba Valley Reclamation, a recycling company in Hickory, will also sponsor the No. 75 machine and Glytch Energy has signed a year-long personal services agreement with Landon Huffman Racing for 2022.

Glytch Energy started their partnership with Huffman through his eSports ventures and were involved in his twitch streams.

Huffman says that Team Dillon Management will support his racing efforts this season as well.

There has to be huge confidence for Huffman as far as his chances of securing the track championship at Hickory in 2022, as he has scored nine late model stock wins at the track since 2014.

In 2015, Huffman won the Paramount Kia Big 10 Challenge Championship at Hickory, but ultimately settled for second in the overall Hickory Motor Speedway track championship race that year.

In addition to running for the Hickory Motor Speedway track championship in 2022, Huffman will also run select races at Tri-County Speedway as well as both CARS Tour races at Hickory this season. Huffman says, depending on how things go, more races could be added to his schedule from there as well.
