NASCAR will finally get a fourth OEM in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027, as Dodge is set to officially return to the series, with Kaulig Racing set to field the entries.
Dodge’s return to NASCAR’s top division follows up Stellantis’ Ram Trucks brand returning to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series after a 13-year hiatus in 2026.
Many expected Dodge to need to make a decision by September if it wanted to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series next season, but Tim Kusinskis, head of American Brands for Stellantis, says Dodge was able to pull it off.
“Everyone said it was impossible to get back in one year. We said, ‘Watch this,'” Kuniskis said in a statement. “Sure, we could spend three years planning, testing, and perfecting … or we could do all three in real time, on the track. It’s going to be exponentially harder this way. But slow has never been part of Dodge DNA. LFG.”
Dodge, which scored its first NASCAR Cup Series victory in 1953, took the NASCAR Cup Series championship with driver Brad Keselowski and Team Penske in 2012, the OEM’s last season in NASCAR’s top division.
According to a press release from Dodge, Kaulig Racing will officially reveal its 2027 NASCAR Cup Series driver lineup ahead of this weekend’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and the Dodge NASCAR Cup Series car will be unveiled during the festivities at the 59th Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway.
How will Dodge perform in its first season back in the NASCAR Cup Series? That remains to be seen, but the OEM is ready to face the extreme challenge in 2027.
