Kaylee Bryson Wins B-Main, Becomes First Woman to Advance to Chili Bowl A-Main

January 15, 2022. Remember that date. That’s the date that Kaylee Bryson made history in the Chili Bowl Nationals, becoming the first woman to advance into the 55-lap A-Feature.

The Keith Kunz Motorsports driver started the B-Feature in tenth, but was able to use the outside lane to advance her way through the field, grabbing the lead before the halfway point of the event.

Blake Hahn finished in the runner-up spot, with CJ Leary, Shane Golobic, Corey Day, Dillon Welch, and Jonathan Beason rounding out the top-seven, and the drivers to advance into Saturday night’s main event.

Bryson becomes the fifth Keith Kunz Motorsports driver to advance to the A-Feature, joining Christopher Bell, Rico Abreu, Tanner Carrick, and Michael Kofoid.

Of the NASCAR drivers competing in the 2022 Chili Bowl Nationals, only Christopher BellKyle LarsonRicky Stenhouse Jr, and NBC pit reporter Dillon Welch advanced to the 24-car A-Feature.

Alex Bowman finished 11th in B-1, Kasey Kahne finished 9th in B-2, Chase Briscoe finished 6th in the C-1, with Ryan Newman 13th in the C-1 among those who reached the televised portion of the event.

Jesse Love finished 17th in D-1, Tanner Berryhill finished 8th in D-2, JJ Yeley finished 11th in E-1, Chase Elliott finished 19th in F-1, Carson Hocevar finished 12th in I-2, Ryan Ellis finished 11th in L-1, Travis Braden finished 12th in L-1, Jesse Little finished 9th in M-2, Conor Daly finished 15th in O-1.

Chase Elliott, Santino Ferrucci, Conor Daly, and Jesse Little all had their fair share of excitement at the tail-end of the week, adding to the World Wide Technology Raceway Flip Count. Of those four drivers, only Ferrucci suffered any type of injury, being diagnosed with a concussion after his wild flip in hot laps.
