18-year-old Brent Crews drove like a cagey veteran on Friday afternoon at Watkins Glen International during qualifying for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Bully Hill Vineyards 176 at The Glen. Crews turned the fastest lap in the stacked field, which allowed him to take the pole position.
Crews topped Ty Majeski by a margin of 0.314 seconds to take the top qualifying spot for Friday’s race at Watkins Glen.
Daniel Hemric, Connor Mosack, and Connor Zilisch rounded out the top-five qualifiers for the event.
With 38 trucks vying for 36 starting spots, two drivers unfortunately missed the show. Toni Breidinger, in the first race with the No. 20 McAnally-Hilgemann Racing team’s driver development entry, and Dystany Spurlock, attempting to become the first black woman to compete in a NASCAR National Series event, will head home early.
