Nobody had anything for Shane van Gisbergen in Saturday’s qualifying session for the NASCAR Cup Series Go Bowling at The Glen at Watkins Glen International.
The driver of the No. 97 Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet was just so much faster than the competition in the bus stop portion of the track that nothing anyone could do could make up for that. SVG scored the pole position by a margin of 0.259 seconds over Michael McDowell.
Austin Cindric, Ross Chastain, and Connor Zilisch rounded out the top-five fastest qualifiers for Sunday’s race at Watkins Glen.
