Sheldon Creed comes to Nashville Superspeedway looking for a run that could place him into the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs, after a tough start to his rookie campaign.

Jumping to the top spot of Friday’s 50-minute practice session, the Richard Childress Racing driver posted a time of 30.727 seconds (155.824mph) to lead the session over a Chevrolet sweep of the top-four spots.

NASCAR Xfinity Series points leader, AJ Allmendinger, posted the second-quickest time of the session, nearly two-tenths of a second behind Creed’s incredible lap. Noah Gragson and Daniel Hemric posted the third and fourth-place laps.

JJ Yeley (MBM Motorsports) and Kyle Weatherman (Jesse Iwuji Motorsports) both posted incredible times in Friday’s practice session, ending up fifth and sixth on the speed charts.

Ty Gibbs, Trevor Bayne, Justin Allgaier, and Ryan Preece rounded out the session’s top-10 lap times.

Qualifying for the NASCAR Xfinity Series will take place on Saturday at Noon / ET on USA Network and the NBC Sports App.

If practice times were to set the field for Saturday’s event, Brennan Poole (Mike Harmon Racing), Matt Mills (BJ McLeod Motorsports), and Mason Massey (DGM Racing) would miss the field.
