NASCAR Xfinity Series part-timers Sage Karam and Santino Ferrucci will compete as teammates for Dreyer and Reinbold Racing in the 2022 Indianapolis 500, after both drivers scored top-seven finishes in the 2021 edition of the event in May.

Driving the No. 24, Sage Karam will make his ninth attempt at qualifying for the Indy 500, and his eighth with DRR. In his previous eight starts, Karam has notched a pair of top-10 finishes, including a seventh in 2021, an Indy 500 high for the Nazareth, Pennsylvania native.

The 26-year-old competed in five events last season between the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, scoring a career-high 16th at Bristol Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 31 for Jordan Anderson Racing.

Getting behind the wheel of a second entry for the organization (No. 23) will be Santino Ferrucci, who will attempt to qualify for his fourth Indianapolis 500, and his first for DRR. In his three prior starts, the Woodbury, Connecticut-native has never finished worse than seventh.

The 23-year-old made the transition to a partial schedule in the NASCAR Xfinity Series last season, contesting seven events for Sam Hunt Racing. Ferrucci collected four top-15 finishes, including a career-best 13th at Las Vegas in his second career start.

“I am super thrilled to join DRR,” Ferrucci said in a team social media post. “Nothing is better than being a part of a team that has such a high work ethic. The team’s attention to detail is comparable to top teams in the series.”

Neither Karam nor Ferrucci have officially announced their plans for the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series season.
