Last week, Nick Sanchez announced that he would be parting ways with BJ McLeod Motorsports for an opportunity he simply couldn’t pass up. It turns out that the opportunity was a four-race schedule for Big Machine Racing’s No. 48 team in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Big Machine Racing, which scored their first win as a race team at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this season, made the announcement of Sanchez’s addition to the team on Wednesday.
Sanchez, according to the release will make his debut for the team at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 16th. The 21-year old will also run for the team at Texas Motor Speedway in September, Las Vegas Motor Speedway in October and Homestead-Miami Speedway in October.
Big Machine’s team owner Scott Borchetta has really been impressed with Sanchez through his incredible performances in the ARCA Menards Series this season.
“There is so much great young talent at the moment, all vying for an opportunity to show they can get the job done. Nick has had some great results in ARCA this year and when Shane (Martin) brought us the opportunity to work with Nick, Chevrolet and NASCAR, it made perfect sense for us as we continue to develop our racing program at a very rapid pace,” Borchetta said in the release.
For Sanchez, the opportunity to drive for a team capable of winning at the NASCAR Xfinity Series level is something he truly appreciates.
“To have the opportunity to compete for wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series is really a dream come true,” Sanchez explained. “I can’t thank Chevrolet and NASCAR enough for their continued support as well as everything they’ve done to help put this deal together. I’m elated to drive for Scott Borchetta and begin working with everyone at Big Machine Racing. This is no doubt the biggest opportunity I’ve received in my career, and I look forward to making the most of it, Bristol can’t come soon enough!”
The Miami, Florida-native has made two NASCAR Xfinity Series starts this season, both with BJ McLeod Motorsports. Sanchez finished 26th in his series debut at Phoenix in March and he was 28th, after an ignition issue ended his day early at Charlotte in May.
Sanchez will look to keep forging forward in his NASCAR National Series career as we head from Summer to Fall.
