As the NASCAR Xfinity Series contests the end of its regular season at Kansas Speedway on Saturday, NASCAR has taken notice of the uptick in pre-race inspection failures and will be making a change for the series’ post-season.

Starting with the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 15th, which opens the series’ seven-race post-season, NASCAR will toughen the penalties assessed to teams that fail pre-race inspection multiple times.

Should any NASCAR Xfinity Series team fail pre-race inspection multiple times, NASCAR will be ejecting a crew member from the team’s roster. Previously, that penalty would not be assessed to any team, unless they had failed pre-race inspection three times.

Over the course of the series’ two most recent events at Darlington Raceway and Daytona International Speedway, a total of 13 Xfinity Series teams failed pre-race inspection multiple times – seven at Darlington, and six at Daytona, including race-winner Justin Allgaier.
