Matt Mills and BJ McLeod Motorsports will continue a long-standing partnership in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this year, with the 25-year-old driving the No. 5 LF Electric Chevrolet Camaro

The New Philadelphia, Ohio-native has quietly become one of the most experienced drivers in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, notching an impressive 101 series starts, completing more than 15,000 laps in the second-tier series. Mills’ career-best result came at Daytona in July 2019, recording a 10th-place finish.

“Matt (Mills) has been an important part of the growth of our race team the last several years,” said BJMM owner, BJ McLeod. “He stuck with us through some growing pains and has helped make our organization better. I believe his commitment and hard work, with the addition of some key personnel, will lead to success for Matt and the entire team.”

BJ McLeod Motorsports – owned by co-owner of Live Fast Motorsports, BJ McLeod, and his wife Jessica — will field three full-time entries in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, as well as a single entry full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series.

“I am excited for the 2022 season behind the wheel of the No. 5 Chevrolet,” Mills said. “We have shown flashes of speed over the past several seasons and with some of the changes and improvements B.J (McLeod) has made, there is a renewed sense of optimism and excitement throughout the whole organization.”

JF Electric and Utilitra have both committed to multi-year agreements with Mills, and will return as anchor partners of the No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Thompson Electric, a long-time partner of Mills, will return as an associate sponsor.

J.F. Electric and Utilitra are honored and excited to be sponsors for BJ McLeod Motorsports and Matt Mills in 2022,” said JF Electric CEO, Greg Fowler. “We are delighted to support a young and talented driver such as Matt. We look forward to following Matt and his team this year and are rooting for them to have a safe, successful, and electrifying year!”
