Kyle Busch Motorsports has added another driver to the lineup for the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado, thus completing the 23-race schedule for this season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Matt Mills, who has spent the last several seasons competing in various NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Truck Series events, will pilot the entry in a pair of events this season, starting at Richmond Raceway on July 29.

JF Electric and Utilitra, long-time sponsors of Mills’ efforts in NASCAR’s top-three series, will provide sponsorship for both Richmond and the second event on his schedule with Kyle Busch Motorsports at Milwaukee on August 27.

“I’m really excited that KBM is providing me with an opportunity to showcase my abilities driving two races in the No. 51 Silverado,” Mills said. “It makes it even more exciting that Richmond is the first race because I was born about an hour from there and I’ve had some strong runs there in the Xfinity Series, so I couldn’t think of a better track to make my KBM debut at. J.F. Electric has been a long-time supporter, and this wouldn’t be possible without them, Utilitra and Thompson Electric.”

To date, Mills has made a total of 121 starts in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, scoring a career-high result of 10th place at Daytona International Speedway in 2019. In seven starts at Richmond, Mills has registered a 13th-place result on two occasions.

“J.F. Electric and Utilitra are proud to continue our sponsorship of Matt Mills in 2023,” said J.F. Electric owner Greg Fowler. “We are excited for Matt to have the opportunity to race with Kyle Busch Motorsports in the upcoming Craftsman Truck Series races at Richmond and Milwaukee. We are rooting for Matt to have safe, successful, and electrifying performances!”

The 26-year-old driver has yet to make a start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Richmond and has yet to make a start in any series at The Milwaukee Mile, meaning both races will require a level of adaptability.

“We’re excited to see Matt get behind the wheel of the No. 51 Silverado for two races and thankful to the sponsors that came onboard to make it possible,” said KBM President Mike Verlander. “Brian Pattie (crew chief) and everyone on that team will provide Matt with everything that he needs to get acclimated to our organization quickly and we feel like the tracks that he will be competing at are places where he can be successful.”

Kyle Busch Motorsports continues its long-awaited search for the 100th victory for the organization, as it competes with Chase Purdy full-time in the No. 4, and William Byron, Kyle Busch, Jack Wood, and now Matt Mills in the No. 51.
