Chase Purdy, Jack Wood Tapped to Compete for Kyle Busch Motorsports in 2023

Kyle Busch Motorsports 2023 Jack Wood Chase Purdy NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series
Chase Purdy and Jack Wood have been named the two pilots for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2023, as the team transitions to fielding Chevrolet Silverados. Purdy will drive the No. 4 Chevrolet full-time, while Jack Wood will serve as the anchor driver of the No. 51.

Kyle Busch Motorsports is set to undergo a massive shift in operations for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, with the organization’s impending switch to Chevrolet, as well as establishing a new roster of drivers.

The organization, which in its 12-year relationship with Toyota has collected a series-leading 95 victories and seven NASCAR Truck Series Owner’s Championships, making them one of the most successful organization’s in series history.

Chase Purdy, who currently competes full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series for Hattori Racing Enterprises, will take over the driving duties of the No. 4 entry for 2023, marking the Mississippi-native’s third team in the last three seasons.

The 23-year-old is set to wrap up his second full-season campaign in the NASCAR Truck Series on Friday, where he’s collected a pair of top-10 results in a second entry for Hattori Racing Enterprises. After failing to qualify at Daytona, Purdy sits 16th in points.

Joining the Meridian, Mississippi-native as part of Kyle Busch Motorsports will be Jack Wood, who will serve as the “anchor driver” of the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Wood has been a member of GMS Racing’s driver lineup for the last two seasons, competing primarily in the NASCAR Truck Series, but also dabbling in all three divisions of the ARCA Menards Series.

The Loomis, California-native’s second-year campaign with GMS Racing – his first full season in the NASCAR Truck Series – has featured its fair share of bumps in the road, having started the season with four crash-related DNFs in the first five races.

Heading into the season-finale at Phoenix Raceway, Wood sits 23rd-place in NASCAR Truck Series points, with the realistic potential to reach as high as 22nd with a good run at the one-mile facility.

Kyle Busch, as well as other NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers, will also take turns in the No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado, which will be announced at a later date.
