Carson Hocevar took a hard shot into the driver’s door on the final lap of Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Gateway.

Carson Hocevar has been transported to a local hospital and is undergoing further evaluation on his right lower extremity, following a last-lap crash in Saturday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Toyota 200 at WWT Raceway in Gateway.

Niece Motorsports confirmed Hocevar’s condition with a statement on Saturday evening, which read:

“Following the incident on the last lap of today’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event at World Wide Technology Raceway, Carson Hocevar was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation of his right lower extremity. Additional medical updates will be forthcoming, with no further comment at this time.”

As such, we await word on the condition of Hocevar’s lower right extremity following evaluation.

Hocevar had a solid top-five to top-10 finish in hand in Saturday’s race, but on the final lap it all came undone.

The 19-year old, Hocevar received a nudge from Derek Kraus, which sent the No. 42 truck spinning. As Hocevar spun, driver’s side toward the field, Tyler Hill could not avoid him. Hill made massive contact. The contact was so hard that the impact actually lifted the right side of Hocevar’s truck off the ground.

Here is the video of the violent crash:

Following the impact, Hocevar, who was alert and awake, was loaded up on a stretcher and gave a thumbs up to the crowd before being taken to the infield care center in an ambulance.

Following the infield care center checkup, Hocevar was sent to a local hospital for further evaluation.

This story will be updated with any information about Hocevar’s condition as it becomes available.

Hill and Austin Wayne Self, who was also involved in the last lap melee, were checked and released from the infield care center following the race.
