Alex Labbé and the No. 92 DGM Racing team will head to Phoenix Raceway for this weekend’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship Race with a brand new look on their Chevrolet Camaro. NRS Brakes, a Canadian brake manufacturer, will serve as the primary sponsorship partner for the event.
The company is jazzed up at the chance to showcase its brand in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
“We’re excited to collaborate with DGM Racing on one of the largest stages of the
season,” said Montu Khokhar, CEO of NRS Brakes in a DGM Racing team release. “It’s a great opportunity for us to work with Alex and his crew in a race environment. This will allow us to continuously push NRS Brakes development at the extreme race performance levels and for the everyday driver.”
This will mark the first NASCAR National Series sponsorship for the Toronto-based brake manufacturer. It’s fitting that their first partnership would be with Labbé, who hails from Quebec, Canada, and DGM Racing, whose owner Mario Gosselin is also from Quebec.
For Labbé, who wasn’t originally set to run at Phoenix before the sponsorship came together, there’s just something special about giving a company its first ride as a sponsor in NASCAR.
“I am so excited to add Phoenix Raceway to my 2022 schedule thanks to first-time
NASCAR sponsor, NRS Brakes,” said Labbé, a former NASCAR Pinty’s Series Champion. “It’s always great to bring new partners from the automobile industry with new ideas to the sport. I am so thankful to participate in the 2022 Championship race, and it’s even more special to me that it is a Canadian company that believes in me and has stepped up to get me there.”
The 29-year-old Labbé has made 25 starts this season in NASCAR Xfinity Series competition and he has racked up three top-10 finishes. Labbé has found a bit of his stride toward the end of the season, as he has an average finish of 14.0 over his last five starts in the Series, which is better than his season average finish of 20.3.
Labbé will look to improve upon the 19th-place finish that he registered at Phoenix Raceway in the spring.
