Joey Gase Motorsports with Scott Osteen will make a last-minute driver change on its No. 53 Chevrolet entry, mere hours before the beginning of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Rockingham Speedway.
Katherine Legge, who originally failed to qualify for the 38-driver field for Saturday’s North Carolina Education Lottery 250, will jump behind the wheel of the Joey Gase Motorsports entry.
J.J. Yeley, a veteran of more than 800 starts in NASCAR’s National Series, was able to put the No. 53 Rock Hill Ace Hardware Chevrolet in the show at Rockingham Speedway, posting the 31st-fastest qualifying time.
The 44-year-old driver was scheduled to make her first of seven planned NASCAR Xfinity Series events for Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport, driving the No. 32 e.l.f. Cosmetics Chevrolet.
A native of Guildford, United Kingdom, Legge has pivoted her racing efforts this season from open-wheel competition to stock cars, competing in a handful of events in the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series.
Earlier this week, Legge officially confirmed her seven-race Xfinity Series schedule with Jordan Anderson Racing, as well as a five-race program in the NASCAR Cup Series for Live Fast Motorsports.
Saturday’s 250-lap contest will mark the second-ever oval start for Katherine Legge in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the first in seven years. In four Xfinity starts, Legge has a best finish of 14th at Road America. The event will take place at 4:30 PM ET on The CW.
