MBM Motorsports and crew chief Jason Houghtaling have parted ways according to a tweet from the organization. Houghtaling had served as a crew chief for the NASCAR Xfinity Series team since swapping to MBM Motorsports mid-year in 2022 after serving in the same role for Jesse Iwuji Motorsports.

Chris Atteberry will be promoted within and will be the new crew chief for the No. 66 MBM Motorsports team going forward.

The team made the announcement via a Tweet on Thursday, and thanked Houghtaling for his contributions to the team.

Atteberry, prior to the promotion to the crew chief position, had been serving as the team’s fuel man on pit road this season.

Houghtaling, a long-time fixture within the sport and a NASCAR National Series crew chief since 2016, will move to Jordan Anderson Racing and will serve as the car chief for Parker Retzlaff and the No. 31 team.

While it’s always tough moving on from an opportunity, Houghtaling has a lot of excitement for his new role with Jordan Anderson Racing, which scored the first victory in team history a couple of races ago at Talladega Superspeedway.

“I have known Jordan for some time now, and I love his story,” Houghtaling explained to TobyChristie.com. “He has a promising organization and I am excited to join them.”

It’s been a bit of a rough season for MBM Motorsports, which has failed to qualify in five of the 10 races so far during the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. The scrappy team will look to turn things around with a new man atop the pit box starting this weekend at Darlington Raceway.

So far in 2023, the best finish for the No. 66 MBM Motorsports team is a 30th-place effort with Timmy Hill behind the wheel at Dover Motor Speedway a couple of weeks ago.
