A misdemeanor charge of Crime of Domestic Violence which was issued against part-time NASCAR Xfinity Series racer Gray Gaulding back in April has officially been dismissed in Mecklenburg County in North Carolina.
The decision to dismiss the charges came from the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office on July 25.
Gaulding’s public relations team called the dismissal of the charges a, “just outcome to an unjust situation,” on Monday in a post on Gaulding’s account on X.
”Gray Gaulding’s misdemeanor charge was dismissed by the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office on July 25th, 2024,” the statement read. “Although we expected this case to be dismissed once all the facts came to light, it is a relief for Gray after months of uncertainty. We appreciate the public withholding judgment until we could resolve the issue. This was a just outcome to an unjust situation.”

A representative for NASCAR has confirmed to TobyChristie.com that Gray Gaulding has been indefinitely suspended by the sanctioning body following his April 2 arrest.
Gaulding faces a misdemeanor charge of Crime of Domestic Violence.

Gray Gaulding, a part-time competitor in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, was arrested by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office at 7:17 AM ET on Tuesday, April 2 on a misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence charge. Gaulding was released at 12:42 PM ET on Tuesday, April 2.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the arrest to TobyChristie.com.
As of now, there are no court dates scheduled for Gaulding per the North Carolina Judicial Branch website.
Gaulding competed in 11 races during the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, and recorded two top-10 finishes. Additionally, Gaulding ran one NASCAR Cup Series event last season at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway where he finished 29th.
The 26-year-old racer has competed in a total of 158 races in the NASCAR National Series ranks. Gaulding, who hails from Colonial Heights, VA, had not publicly announced any driving plans for the 2024 season at the time of the arrest.
Gaulding was one of three drivers that were in a fan vote to drive the No. 14 SS-GreenLight Racing entry at Talladega Superspeedway on April 20. Ultimately, Mason Massey won the fan vote and will drive the Fan Controlled Sports Chevrolet Camaro in that event.
