Rajah Caruth, by virtue of being the fastest driver in the opening round of Friday’s NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series qualifying session, was the final driver to take to the track in the final round of the session around the 2.5-mile Daytona International Speedway.
49.118 seconds later, Caruth backed up his top time from the opening round as he bumped Carson Kvapil, his JR Motorsports teammate, from the top spot to claim the pole position for the first time in his 46-race NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series career.
Starting Lineup: Winn-Dixie 250 at Daytona
Officially, Caruth clocked in with a lap time of 49.118 seconds (183.232 mph) behind the wheel of the No. 88 JR Motorsports Chevrolet, which allowed him to secure the pole position by a margin of 0.101 seconds over Kvapil.
Jesse Love will start from the inside of the second row in Friday night’s Winn-Dixie 250 at Daytona, while Sheldon Creed will line up alongside him in the fourth position.
Sammy Smith, Sam Mayer, William Sawalich, Austin Hill, Anthony Alfredo, and Taylor Gray rounded out the top-10 qualifiers for Friday night’s Winn-Dixie 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
Andy Jankowiak, driving the No. 39 RSS Racing entry this weekend, secured the final starting spot (38th) in the field for what will be his debut race in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
With 39 cars on the entry list, one driver unfortunately was unable to transfer to the 38-car starting grid. The driver who failed to make the show was Dawson Cram, driving the No. 47 Mike Harmon Racing Chevrolet.
