Video: Kyle Larson Takes 43rd Dirt Win of 2020 Season Friday Night at Merced Speedway

Kyle Larson truly turned lemons into lemonade in 2020.

After a suspension from NASCAR in April and subsequent firing from Chip Ganassi Racing after saying a racial slur during an iRacing event, Larson took on an expansive dirt track schedule. After Friday night’s latest triumph at Merced Speedway, which is located in California, in the 360 Sprint Car Division, Larson has a grand total of 43 wins on the dirt in 2020.

Here is video of Larson capturing his 43rd checkered flag of the year:

Larson won the 30-lap feature event after passing Dominic Scelzi for the lead on lap 15.

Sclezi would hold on to finish second, while Bud Kaeding, Cole Macedo and Tanner Thorson rounded out the top-five finishers.

Larson’s efforts to atone for his miscue in that iRacing event in April, coupled with his incredible performance on dirt in his time away from NASCAR have led to him signing a deal to move to Hendrick Motorsports for 2021 to drive the No. 5 NASCAR Cup Series car.

The dirt world is most likely breathing a collective sigh of relief that they’ll be seeing less of the 28-year old in 2021.
