Video: Kyle Busch Top-Five Run Foiled by Two Spins on Final Lap at COTA

Kyle Busch had battled back to what looked to be a top-five finish Sunday at COTA, until the driver of the No. 18 went for two spins on the final lap of the race. Photo credit: Joe Gibbs Racing on Twitter.

Kyle Busch had an interesting day in the EchoPark Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday.

The driver of the No. 18 had a car that, he described on the team’s radio, wouldn’t do anything properly. Yet, he was running 12th in the early portion of the race before being spun on lap 10 by Chase Elliott.

After dropping to the rear of the field due to the spin, Busch kept his nose clean the remainder of the race, and in the closing laps, Busch found himself inside the top/-five. However, it all came unraveling on the final lap, when Busch suffered a pair of spins.

While the NASCAR on FOX broadcast team mentioned Busch spinning once on the final lap, there was never any sort of replay of what happened. Now, when looking back at the in car camera, it turns out Busch spun more than once.

Here is video of Busch’s onboard camera from the final lap of Sunday’s race shared on Monday by Twitter user @KensethFan17_20:

As you can see, Busch gets spun while running fifth, then, as he attempts to blend back into traffic, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion gets turned again, this time by rookie contender Harrison Burton.

After all of the spinning, Busch wound up with a 28th-place finish.
